TITLE: Floor Staff – Pacific Backlot Services (Grip & Lighting)
LOCATION: 3500 Cornett Rd Vancouver

We currently have an opening for Floor Staff at Pacific Backlot Services. This is a full- time position located in East Vancouver at our Vancouver Film Studios lot.
Pacific Backlot offers an extensive range of top-notch production services and equipment rentals to film, television, commercial and theatrical productions in BC. Large or small, every production is important to us and our crew takes great pride in providing the best service and equipment possible. Pacific Backlot Services was established in 1999 as a corporate subsidiary of Vancouver Film Studios.
The successful candidate will join a small group of dedicated people in a challenging and dynamic and occasionally, creative setting. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking for a unique work environment.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY / JOB PURPOSE
This position will be responsible for the preparation of grip and lighting equipment for delivery to set or location by pulling orders and checking inventory in and out, as well as overall warehouse maintenance, sub-rental processing and returns and other work as required.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent;
- Commitment to providing top notch customer service;
- A self-starter with the ability to take initiative and get the job done;
- Ability to handle repetitive tasks;
- Excellent attention to detail;
- Knowledge of LX and Grip gear an asset;
- Completion of BC film industry orientation program (Fiop) an asset;
- Forklift or lift ticket certification an asset.
- Current B.C. Driver’s License and comfortable driving a cube van.
There is a large physical component to this position with daily required lifting up to weights of 60 pounds. The work will be either outside or within a warehouse environment, so you must be willing to step in and get dirty.
You have a great sense of humour and enjoy working as part of a team and you must be legally entitled to work in Canada. This is a full time permanent position of 40 hours per week Monday to Friday.
The salary for this position is between $34,000 and $36,000 per annum depending on experience, and we offer an excellent benefits package, including RRSP matching and other perks, such as an on-site gym.

TITLE: Maintenance Coordinator

PBS offers an extensive range of top-notch production services and equipment rentals to film, television, commercial, and theatrical productions in B.C. Large or small, every production is important to us and our crew takes great pride in providing the best service and equipment possible.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY / JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the PBS Maintenance Supervisor, you will assist in providing preventative and corrective maintenance of a large array of PBS grip and lighting equipment, as well as being involved in projects allowing for the use of your many skills, such as electrical repairs, soldering, painting, and carpentry. Daily duties will constantly shift, due to the unpredictability of projects and variability of demands on your time. This is not a position where you will be doing the same thing day in and day out.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
You are a “jack of all trades” type of person with an affinity for all things mechanical. Although an electrical ticket is not required, you have some electrical skills and are eager to learn more. Other qualifications include:
- Soldering and circuit board component testing is an asset;
- Some experience and/knowledge in carpentry and woodworking;
- High level of proficiency in English;
- Welding and metalwork would be a plus;
- Must be clean and well organized;
- Positive attitude;
- Knowledge and experience with the safe use and operation of power hand tools;
- Quick learner with an eagerness to learn and hone their skills;
- Have high level of initiative and ability to follow through on projects with limited supervision;
- Legally permitted to work in Canada.
General work hours for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
